Final project for school
I finally finished my final project for school. (I just have to show them to my instructor/advisor.) For those of you who do not know, I was doing a set of portraits in the style of Platon. (www.platonphoto.com) Platon uses wide angle lens to do his portraits. We are not talking about fun house mirror looking images, just tastefully done. He did an image of Obama that is fantastic. (It was on the cover of time) Please take a look at his work and see for yourself.

Naked Ambition
Last monday I went to see Michael Grecco give a lecture/book signing on his latest book, Naked Ambition : An R-Rated Look at an X-Rated Industry. This lecture was given by the The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) sponsored the event. He is an incredable photographer and I learned a lot.
A lot of people would be turned off b/c of the nudity and porn but it is well crafted and would not be afraid to leave it on my coffee table when Mommy comes by.
I think I upset some people at my camera club
I think I ruffled a few feathers at the the GLPA. We had a model shoot yesterday and I decided to continue doing my final project for school. (Using a wide angle lens for portraits like my hero Platon does.) They are very "traditional" photographers and think that whatever golden rules there might be on photography, you cannot break. While they did seem supportive, I do not think I completely had their blessing. Do not get me wrong, I do respect their views. That is why when people go out in groups, they do not line up behind one another and shoot/frame the same exact shot over and over again.
Web site music
They should pass a law banning music on a photographer’s website. I am visiting the website to see images not hear some god awful cr*p. Yea, yea, some of them have a mute button but some do not. Do not get me wrong. I am not against multimedia displays of photography but a website is not the place to do it.
Broken promises
I just came home from my camera club and one of my images won first place. It was a composite that I did for school. (Broken Promises) It is one of my favorite pictures.
